KENT GOSPEL CHOIR – MORE THAN A REHEARSAL

After the incredible high of singing with Emeli Sandé on Saturday, Howard and Gemma finished the weekend in the best possible way – with Kent Gospel Choir on Sunday afternoon.

The truth is, it wasn’t just a rehearsal.

It was an experience.

Howard, Neresa and Gemma spent the afternoon sharing such passion for gospel music, but what unfolded in the room was so much more than learning notes and harmonies. There was joy, laughter, connection, encouragement and moments of genuine emotion. For some, there were even tears.

That’s the power of gospel music.

One of the things we love most about gospel music is that it is for everyone. You don’t have to be a Christian. You don’t need to have a particular background or belief system. Gospel music has a unique way of reaching beyond all of that and connecting directly to the heart. There is something about the hope, passion, honesty and soul within the music that resonates with people wherever they are on their journey.

It’s difficult to explain.

You simply have to experience it.

Kent Gospel Choir is our newest gospel choir, and we are still building something really special together. We are learning the songs, developing our sound, shaping the set list and preparing to take this music out into the community at gospel events and performances. These things take time, but the progress being made already is incredible and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.

In many ways, now is the perfect time to join.

You don’t need to worry about feeling behind because we’re all learning together. Every rehearsal is another opportunity to grow in confidence, develop your voice and become part of something exciting right from the beginning.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the members of Essex Gospel Choir who regularly travel to Kent to support the group. Your encouragement, friendship and willingness to serve the wider BIG Sing family means so much. What a team we have.

And finally, a special thank you to Neresa. As an outstanding choir tutor, she brings so much energy, passion, warmth and excellence to every rehearsal. Her love for gospel music is infectious and we are incredibly grateful for everything she is investing into this choir.
